The latest South African farm Murder

Today's News24 reports the killing of 64 year old Piet Van den Berg at his farm in Cullinan near Pretoria. Piet was killed in front of his 60 year old wife Madeleine, who the attackers then locked in a cupboard before preceding to set fire to the couple's house.

Mercifully Madeleine Van den Berg managed to escape and alert neighbours, but she was left a traumatised widow.

In accordance with the official line in relation to these genocidal killings, the latest killing has again been attributed to "crime" and the attackers are being referred to as "robbers", and it is true that, in this instance property appears to have been taken. However, readers may wish to consider how many "robbers" kill and old man, and then lock his elderly wife in a cupboard before setting fire to the house, clearly with the intention that she would burn alive?

Piet Van den Berg's death brings the total killings of white farmers since the end of Apartheid, that I am aware of, to 3,062.

Here is a first hand source regarding the realities of Africa:

It is pretty brutal and I do not entirely agree with the conclusions of the writer, but I have to respect his personal knowledge of the country and the people of Africa.

It helps to explain the things that Sarah is posting about, I think.

Rawn remarks...
According to Dr D (remark posted 13 July 09) this is 'pretty brutal'- yet he/she does not 'entirely agree with the conclusions of the writer.' According to my reading, the writer came to no conclusions; she merely asked readers to consider "how many 'robbers' kill and (sic) old man, and then lock his elderly wife in a cupboard before setting fire to the house, clearly with the intention that she would burn alive?" I, for one, find it hard to believe that the 'robbers' locked her up for her safety.... Oh, but one must be so careful not to offend the delicate sensitivities of the poor, underprivileged souls who are merely doing their part in the redistribution of wealth: each according to his needs.

Anonymous, you have misunderstood my comment. I was saying that I do not agree entirely with the conclusions of the writer of the article that I referenced in the tinyurl that I cited, not the article that Sarah presented. Did you read that article?

Yes, I took Dr D's comment as being a reverence to this article

Piet was a peaceloving man. he was my uncle. he grew up in this house. my grandfather built this house. Peter was actually co-operating with his murders when he opened the safe. he was shot execution like. they then tried on his clothes. taunted my aunt. removed valuables. locked my aunt in the cupboard while she pleaded for her life. they merely set the house alight. Most South Africans may say it was justifiable retribution and a show of dominance. the perpetrators came from JOhannesburg. many miles away. We hated. we wept. we forgave. may God have mercy on his killers and assist us to walk in forgiveness.

To Family van den berg

Thank you for your comment. I really admire your efforts to forgive your uncle's killers, I would find that very difficult. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
