I think this imagined technocratic utopia would be anything but a utopia. Technology cannot 'save' the world or our people. It is not magic, and it cannot be as God. as those who trust inordinately in it imagine it could be.

Flawed human nature does not allow for a perfect human society, and that same human nature tends to find ways to misuse high technology for destructive ends, no matter how well-intentioned it may be. Technology is neither good nor bad, but can be either, depending on the users.

Dr. D's possible alternative future is the only other plausible one, and though it may not be likely we must not give up on the possibility.Vanishing Americanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07723746944036650219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3373165199675890724.post-40374569789561165802009-04-20T09:21:00.000-07:002009-04-20T09:21:00.000-07:00Things may be looking up soon:

His de...Much of what the author has to say is true. His description of the way things are disintegrating, falling apart around us, is entirely correct. I agree that the date 2042 for the tipping point for the USA is unrealistically far off; it is much closer than that.

I think he goes off the track when he buys into the global warming hoax. He says, "if global warming is to be believed, heating the world to a point where crops will cease growing due to the oppressive heat." I have never heard anyone make such a statement. I have heard people suggest that different crops will be grown as climate changes, but not that no crops will be able to be grown. But there is serious challenge to the whole global warming hypothesis today, much to the disappointment of AlGore & Associates.

He becomes somewhat hysterical in saying "thirty years is nothing." No, thirty years is a significant time period, a good long time, more like half a life time for most of the world's population.

He has correctly identified one of the major problems of the world in the vast, casual fecundity of the third world. The fact that the third world population continues to grow, seemingly without bounds, poses a serious problem to us all. Everything we do to help the third world, food aid, medical aid, sanitation, etc., only seems to exacerbate this problem because it decreases mortality which was the traditional population limiting factor. The third world has not learned any degree of self control at all, nor does it show any inclination towards doing this. This is a problem that must be solved. Traditionally, disease, famine, war, etc. limited primitive societies that exercised no self control. As we have conquered the problems of disease and famine, and at least reduced war, we have learned that it is necessary to limit families by self control or we outstrip our resources. The third world does not see this at all, and is unwilling to exercise any level of self control.

Future B as proposed by the author is probably worse than Future A because it is completely dehumanized. The author does not see it that way, but that would be the inevitable result of such a path. It would be perfectly ghastly. It posits a man-made, God-less, Utopia, and every such effort has and always will lead to a communist tyranny.

There is a third alternative, even though it does not look very likely at this point. That is to go back to living as we rightly ought to, in a God-ordered society, with our nations separated, recognizing that man is not the king of the universe. Each nation, each race, can live as it has been ordained to live, there can be trade and cooperation, but not dependence or responsibility for other nations.

If we cannot have this last option, I think I would have to opt for Future A, horrible though it is, over the author's option B.Dr.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18360786634583725263noreply@blogger.com
